What to do with all this space?

As the revolution (or decimation) continues in the retail sector, those bricks and mortar retailers have a further conundrum; what to do with surplus space? 

High street stalwart, John Lewis, clearly believes it has too much space as it obtains a planning permission to convert almost half of its flagship store on Oxford Street to offices.  Of course, in the era of covid-19, what will the demand be like for office space in the West End?  Traditionally, the West End has suffered from a lack of supply of offices but will this be the case in a post pandemic world? The upheaval in the commercial property world has some way to go yet.

The John Lewis Partnership has been given permission from Westminster City Council to convert almost half of its flagship Oxford Street department store into office space.
