Autumn Budget 2024

On 30 October, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, delivered the Autumn Budget, announcing £40bn of tax rises and an agenda for growth. The first Budget from the new Labour government, and the first ever from a female Chancellor, includes immediate increases in CGT; a significant restriction on inheritance tax relief for business and agricultural property, and further detail on the major reforms to non-domiciled taxation. In this bulletin, we summarise the key announcements and their potential impact on our clients, covering three main areas of interest.

Below we set out a series of notes that address Property and Corporate Taxation; Non-Domicile Taxation; and Private Client Taxation.

These note are intended to serve as an initial reference point for recent developments in tax and law. They should not be considered a substitute for professional advice. If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact your usual Boodle Hatfield lawyer.
